This past weekend, we took Black Rose to the Summit City Comic Con here in Fort Wayne. Pics and more below!
Last year’s Summit City was the first ever, and the premiere of our first issue. So we were very excited to return to our hometown con with not just one but four issues! Aaron worked overtime getting Issue 4 ready for the con, and even flew back from his new stomping ground of Portland, Oregon to hang out with Chris and me at the con.
The con was in an even bigger hall than last year, with about 25% more exhibitors — which seemed to result in tighter competition for congoers’ wallets. I’m pleased to say that we did purty good, surpassing last year’s take. Best of all, we had a lot of people come up to our table and tell us that they owned at least one issue already and were really enjoying the story. That’s very rewarding for me as one of the writers of Black Rose, and is an encouraging sign that our tale has some staying power in people’s minds.
Unfortunately, I only had time for a cursory jog past our fellow exhibitors, and would have loved to get more of a chance to see the other comic treats on display. We did get to see a lot of great costumes, though, including young Thor and Deadpool, an excellent Mara Jade, and… a hot dog trooper?

If you missed us at the con, you can pick up Issue 4 (and all our other goodies) at our online store. I should also mention that Black Rose is also on Facebook now, so make sure to “Like” us to keep up with the latest news and art progress snippets from Aaron.
Another awesome con, gentlemen. See everybody next year!
