As I mentioned in my last post, it’s been a busy time for Black Rose recently too. Here’s a recap of what’s new on the project!
We exhibited at two conventions recently — the first was Lexpo in Lafayette. And by we, I mean me, since Aaron isn’t going to fly from the west coast for every con and Chris had to work that day. I had a pretty bad feeling about the con when I pulled into the fairgrounds location and saw this sign above our building…
Fortunately, despite a slow start to the day, business picked up in the afternoon and it wound up being a decent small con. However, the table prices were rather high considering the venue and the relatively small crowd, so I’m not sure if we’ll be returning to Lexpo next year or not. I guess we’ll wait and see!
Preparations for Lexpo were extra crazy because I was simultaneously putting the finishing touches on Issue #5, just in time for the issue to premiere two weeks later at the Kokomo Con! Phew.
We had gone to Kokomo last year and did pretty well, and did about the same this year too. This year, we were also sharing a table with our good friend Andy “Shaggy” Korty of webcomic The Manor, and a good time was had by all.
Aside from these cons, there’s been a lot of Black Rose action on our Facebook page, where Aaron posts new art snippets daily — small snapshots of the next issue’s concept art, pencils, and inks. Check it out if you haven’t already!
So if you want to catch up on the story, head over to our online store and pick up some issues! We are currently offering a discount on our sketchbooks as well, so it’s the perfect time to gnab some BR swag.
Thanks for reading! More stuff from me coming next week.
